My Disappearence

Well you may have noticed, I have been away from LA for a while. I haven’t been very far thought. I just finished my freshman year at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. It was a good year but with tough times through out. I have had lots of fun and made many friends. I could post a lot of stories but link to a few photos of my dorm should suffice. I am glad now to be home, but also excited to go back in the fall (after a break.) I still get to room with Brian, but we get a new dorm an this time there will only be two people to a dorm.

Takeing a break...

Well I have not kept much of a blog, as you probably have noticed. So I will leave it up because google links to my site with this working. I have been trying to fix some of the problems and solved many of them. However, I will not update it for awhile. Whenever you see this page still here give me a call. Then I can talk to you in person and hear about your life's happenings too.

Mexicali

I am back from the Mexicali trip. I had a great time there. I originally had kitchen duty (Team Nehemiah) but they needed more people on Team Ezra (security). I moved there to do a shift from 7:30 to 12:00 at night. The next day I had 12:00 (noon) to 6:00 (in the evening). Later that day/night I got on at 12:00 (midnight) to 6:00 am. Then I had the day to rest. The next day I was able to go into the village and spend time with the group and only did 4 hour shifts at night. Our speaker and band were great. We had some good food and transportation. Yet one of the best parts was the time spent with the awesome people from our group who are all now friends. We also had a great big sand storm. You could not even see 5 feet in front of you, at times. The wind blew so hard that it through a great big circus tent, EZ-Ups, tents, and a lot more stuff. I got the Barnabus award for helping out and got a nice "tan" (which washed of in the shower afterwards) aka total coverage of sand. I had a great time would suggest for everyone to as soon as they can.

Flying and The Sights

Well today I went flying with Ray. We were going up to Apple Valley from Whiteman. On the way there we went sight seeing to Castaic and then to Piru. Near Apple Valley there was a fire with a lot of smoke. We thought it would be best if we diverted to Victorville, other wise we might get stuck until the smoke cleared. At Victorville Airport we landed and as we taxied, to Million Air, we saw Marine One (or one of them) and guards/soldiers all around. In a day or two there will be a TFR (temporary flight restriction) in the area. From the looks of it, someone big is coming into town. After that we left for home, landed and did a few laps around the pattern. Here is a picture of Marine One...

Private Pilot I am.

To day I took my private pilot exam and passed. We spent some time on the oral exam, where the examiner said that he knew I studied hard. Once that was over he said it was time to fly. I preflighted the plane, put my stuff inside, opened the hangar, and towed the plane out. Once we were ready to go I started the plane, got the ATIS, called ground then went to the run up area. One the run up was complete we went around in the pattern doing go arounds, slips, soft field take offs and landings, and short filed take offs and landings. After that we taxied back for take off and proceeded to Bakersfield. At 4,500 he said to level off then we went out to the the practice area and did our maneuvers. Once complete we left for home, Whiteman, and shortly landed and put the plane away. He filled out the paper work shook my hand and said, "Congratulations". Shortly after he left, I closed up, and then I left for home. So now I am a Private Pilot and working towards my Instrument rating.

Thanksgiving Rocks

Well this years Thanksgiving was at my aunt and uncle's house. After we ate, the TV was turned on and my cousin started playing Guitar Hero. This started the evening. The volume was set for 28, making it possible for all of Ventura to hear, and hard rock was blasting. My dad, mom, cousins, uncle, grandma and I all played until we knew ever song. This was quite an evening. I have a video on my movies page of this. My grandma loves hard rock, I have come to find out, and enjoys sing to Black Flag, Black Sabbath, AC DC, Ramones, White Zombie, Bad Religion, Deep Purple, Ozzy, Incubus, and Judas Priest. I took one of her favorites and put it with some video of Thanksgiving. Look to my movie page to watch.

Army Recruiter

Tonight I was called by the Army recruiter. The gentleman on the phone was very friendly and seems like a nice guy. I know he was from the army, but that is all. We talked for a few minutes about me. Like always I am skeptical of who he is and what he wants. I talked to him like any one else I know but did no sign up...

Grendles Mom

I took the song Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne and rewrote it. It now goes with Beowulf as this version is entitled Grendle’s Mom. I hope you enjoy it...
